Some families know a great deal about their roots; others know very
little. This site is an attempt to record what we've learned about our family history. In these modern times, families tend
to be scattered all over the country, if not the world. One of the goals of this web site is to help our family stay connected
even though some may live far from the rest or just do not come around as often. We are Zerqueras and we must never
forget what our parents with the "Z" blood have taught us and what we inherited from them; Family value and togetherness
is of vital importance. Anything else comes second.
On this page I'll provide a little information about who the Z's
are and what inspired me to do this research. Most of this information was obtained from talking to living relatives.
In the course of doing this research, I've discovered that I have many more relatives than I ever thought possible!
This
is a work in progress, so please contact me if you have any information that might help round out the picture. We need
pictures, stories, memories of any and all kind. I would like at least one short story from every branch of our beautiful
tree still in bloom.

| Pillano Y Cristina Zerquera |
Preciliano Bautista Zerquera (papa) was born in Trinidad, Las Villas, Cuba on the 4th
day of January of the year 1893. Maria Cristina Gil Zerquera (Mama) was born on the 22nd day of January of the year
1895.
The couple met and were wed in Casilda, Las Villas, Cuba and had their first child Concepcion
(Antolina) in 1912. From then until 1932 they had 10 more children. Yes, every 2 years they had a child.
In 1932 they took a 5 year child birth sabatical. In 1937, their last child was born. Their names from oldest
to youngest are; Concepcion (Antolina) - Juana - Hermogenes - Tomas (Fito) - Rolando - Estrella - Rene - Raul (Pitillo)
- Orestes (Tuto) - Haydee - Carlos - Roberto. I guess that it was normal back then to wed and begin having children
before the age of 20. Not just children, many children, 12 children to be exact.
